Striving to meet the diverse needs of students, local school support teams work with parents and students to provide intervention strategies for students. These teams also make needed referrals for special programming services such as enrichment classes, English as a Second Language, special education, and counseling.
Employing approximately 222 full-time teachers, Athens City Schools' has an average student teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Teacher salaries in the school system average the third highest in the state of Alabama, thus the students of Athens receive instruction from some of the best-qualified teachers in the State of Alabama.
